Privacy notice.

What getwake.co collects about you, which is very little, and what we do with it.

Last updated October 30, 2026

This notice covers getwake.co and its docs (“the site”), run by Wake Technologies Inc., a company based in Seattle, Washington (“Wake,” “we” and “us”). It explains what the site collects, why, and the choices you have.

Wake’s open source recorder isn’t covered here, because it doesn’t send us anything. You run it in your own infrastructure, and what it records stays there.

What we collect

Very little. The site has no accounts, sign-up forms, comments, cookies, analytics or advertising, and it loads nothing from other companies’ servers: its fonts and scripts come from the site itself. What we do receive:

  • When you visit. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any website’s host, Vercel receives your IP address, details of your browser, and which pages you ask for and when, and it works out your city and country from your IP address. It uses them to deliver the pages and to protect the site from abuse.
  • When you write to us. If you email us, we get your address and whatever you send.
  • On GitHub. If you open an issue or contribute to Wake on GitHub, GitHub’s privacy statement covers what GitHub collects. We see what you post there, as anyone can.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, so there’s nothing to accept or decline.

How we use it

Only to run the site and keep it secure, to answer you and act on what you ask, to handle security reports, and to meet our legal obligations. We don’t sell personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to build a profile of you.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers that work for us, such as Vercel, which hosts the site, and our email provider, so they can provide their service to us. What Vercel does with what it receives as the host is in its privacy policy.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or when it’s needed to protect the rights, safety or property of people or of Wake.
  • A buyer or successor, if Wake is ever merged, acquired or reorganized, under the same protections.

How long we keep it

We keep emails for as long as we need them to deal with what you wrote about, and then delete them, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. The request logs Vercel shows us are kept for a day. Vercel keeps its own records for the shortest time it needs to meet its legal and contractual obligations, as its privacy policy says.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to or restrict how we use it. You may also opt out of the sale of your information or its sharing for advertising, although we do neither. We won’t treat you differently for using any of these rights.

To make a request, email privacy@getwake.co. We may need to confirm it’s you, and we’ll answer within the time your law sets. If we turn a request down, you can ask us to reconsider it.

If you’re in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland

We use your information on the basis of our legitimate interests in running and securing the site and in answering you, and of our legal obligations where they apply. Wake is based in the United States, so information about you is handled there, with the safeguards the law requires for that transfer. You can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

The site isn’t meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you think we have, write to us and we’ll delete it.

Other websites

The site links to others, such as GitHub and the sources it cites. Their own privacy policies apply there.

Security

We protect what we hold with reasonable measures, but no system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee the security of what you send us over the internet. To report a security problem, follow our vulnerability disclosure policy.

Changes to this notice

If we change this notice, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll say so on the site before it takes effect.
